Moving
The king moves just like the queen does, but only one square at a time. Note that the king can not be purposely moved into check. Nor can any move you make expose your king to a check. More on what check is in the object of the game. The king can also perform a special move with the rook, called Castling.
Capturing
The king captures the same way it moves, as the illustration above shows.
